Carolyn & Cleo — The Yorkie who started it all
Back in 2010, life threw our family an unexpected challenge. Carolyn underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor, and during her recovery we began to notice something extraordinary. Our little Yorkie, Cleo, seemed to sense changes before anyone else — alert and focused in ways we couldn’t explain. Before long, we realized that Cleo was picking up on Carolyn’s seizures before they even started.
What began as intuition quickly became something life-changing. Almost overnight, Cleo was no longer just our family pet — she became Carolyn’s devoted Service Dog.
That’s when we discovered a new challenge: finding gear that actually fit Cleo. Most service dog vests and equipment were designed for large breeds, and the “small” options were still too bulky and uncomfortable. So, we decided to make our own. Cleo’s very first vest was stitched together at our kitchen table, designed with comfort and scale in mind.
What started as one homemade vest grew into an idea: creating gear that gave small dogs the same professional look, comfort, and recognition as their larger counterparts. From that spark, WorkingServiceDog.com was born.
